How high off the floor should kitchen shelving start?
Allow at least 150 mm clearance to the lowest shelf so floors can be cleaned and inspected underneath. This is a standard expectation in Australian food safety audits.
Will stainless shelving rust in a cool room?
Grade 304 stainless is highly corrosion resistant but is not immune where chlorides and standing moisture combine. Polymer shelving is the safest specification for permanently wet or heavily sanitised environments.
